Len and I are  sincerely grateful for all Anthea's knowledge, help and advice over the last eighteen months. Without her support Len would not be where he is today with his arm and hand movements, as well as his overall mobility. She has given him the confidence and encouragement to keep moving forward.  We cannot thank her enough for everything she has done helping to turn Len’s life around.

It was our pleasure and luck to meet Anthea for assessment  and advice. She was knowledgeable and generous, sharing a detailed assessment as follow up for Anu.

I cannot recommend Anthea highly enough. I was diagnosed with MS several years ago, and over the last few months I’ve been experiencing more difficulty with aspects of walking and mobility. Anthea carried out a detailed and thorough initial assessment, and I was immediately reassured by her expertise and attention to detail. Many of the aspects that she covered were familiar from working with other neuro physios, but what stood out was the way that Anthea was able to explain the probable reasons why I was experiencing certain symptoms. This helped me to understand the importance of specific exercises and build them into a programme. As a hockey player herself, Anthea was also able to talk about the importance of certain exercises for my golf swing - very important! I have seen Anthea for two follow-up visits and we have refined and developed the programme to suit my needs. Anthea is friendly and personable with a great sense of humour, but above all her knowledge is second-to-none.

Anthea came to us highly recommended and were not disappointed. She not only has the knowledge you would expect from years in practice, but also an ability to be very empathetic and compassionate whilst at the same time being firm in the way that she encourages clients to perform exercises that are necessary for their improvement.

My wife benefitted immensely from their time together. She is also a lovely person with a great sense of humour.

It's been over 20 years since I had a stroke. The recent treatment I had with you has left me feeling so energised. I am so very grateful to you for your expertise & hard work - thank you Anthea.

I would highly recommend Anthea for your physio needs. She has really helped my dad maintain his range of movement following his stroke.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and severe spinal stenosis around seven years ago, and as a result my ability to stand and walk has been severely restricted. I had a lumbar decompression operation three months ago which has arrested further deterioration in muscular weakness and the task now is to rebuild strength in wasted muscles in my legs and lower back. This is what Anthea has been focussing on for the past few months and after some patient work I am showing signs of improving stability and mobility. She has extensive knowledge and experience of these conditions and a very understanding and professional approach. Having had a couple of falls in the past, I am quite cautious in my walking, but her calm and persuasive approach is gradually encouraging me to be more adventurous. Anthea is great fun to work with and I am very grateful for her optimistic and firm encouragement.

Anthea is the kindest, most amazing neurophysio. She looked after my father after he suffered a series of neurological insults , and with a lot of hard work and perseverance, she managed to get him up and mobile and give him the independence he truly lives for. She is honest and sets realistic goals, and is so experienced and knowledgeable, and such a lovely person . Without Anthea my father would probably be bed bound now, but he is able to walk and for that we are eternally grateful. Thank you so much Anthea- you are wonderful! We are so lucky to have found you.

Anthea has been a blessing to me. After years of neglect, she has given me instructions and exercise routines to get myself back in good shape again. With the home visits there is a 1 to 1 regime, and everything is meticulously explained and demonstrated. Thank you for your professional service and help.

We contacted Anthea in early November 2022 to assess and provide neuro physio for my 89 year old father who was diagnosed with Myesthenia Gravis and effectively bed ridden. The NHS had placed low expectations regarding his future mobility and rehabilitation  but Anthea and her colleague, Cathy, worked wonders in the space of a few months with the result that my father regained his ability to stand and walk with crutches.

We, as a family, cannot thank Anthea and Cathy enough and would thoroughly recommend them to anyone needing physiotherapy. They offer a very caring and professional service.

My husband has MS and Parkinsons for 20 years now. Anthea has been his regular neuro physiotherapist, visiting him weekly for over 12 years now. She has an extensive knowledge of both of these conditions and a very clear understanding of what physio tools and techniques should be used, and encourages him in good practice in his daily life with clear explanations as to why he should continue with her recommendations even when she is not with him. She is the ultimate professional, caring and empathic and we would not hesitate to recommend her services to anyone in need of support, especially with challenging neurological conditions. Anthea has been superb in my rehabilitation after falling sick with Guillain Barre Syndrome. It is very difficult to find a Neuro Physio who has extensive experience with such conditions and from day 1 she filled me with confidence that she would do all she could to get me back/close to 100%. 4 months down the line, I am walking, cycling and going to the gym, almost as if nothing had ever happened! I have no doubt that my speed of recovery is thanks to Anthea's wealth of knowledge and expertise. But the most important part for me is her positivity and enjoyable sense of humour during some dark and challenging days for me. Thanks again Anthea and I look forward to seeing you soon and showing you how I can now lunge properly too!

After having a stroke, Anthea helped me enormously. My left arm was very tight and painful. With exercises and soft tissue work she released and lengthened my muscles in my arm so now I am able to manage it myself and am free from pain. My walking has improved too.

Anthea is always cheerful and encouraging and she has definitely helped me make a good recovery.

Hi. I’m Anthea and I am a Clinical Physiotherapy Specialist in Neurology.

I qualified in 1985 and have worked in neurology since 1987. My NHS experience includes working at the Atkinson Morley Hospital, a Regional Neurosurgical and Neurorehabilitation Unit, and St. George’s Hospital Tooting, a large South London teaching hospital. From 2003 I worked in a specialist neurorehabilitation team in the community, within Surrey Downs Health and Care, based in Epsom. I was the lead clinician in neurophysiotherapy and a member of the Neurorehabilitation Pathways Team.

In addition to my NHS role, from which I retired in October 2023, I have worked in private practice for many years, offering home visits for people with movement, balance & functional difficulties as a result of nervous system damage due to injury or disease.
